Sailing again!

We had a great April trip down to Logos and our first sail of the year! The temp was in the low 70s, but over cooler water on the Neuse, and with a nice breeze, it felt quite a bit cooler. Still, sailing was great, and we were really zipping along. At times we had Logos so well balanced that we didn't even have to touch the wheel.

During this trip, we also visited the Oriental Boat Show and checked out a boat for a friend (Hi Sabrina!) It's always fun to oogle after boats! And we accomplished a few small boat chores/repairs. Barry replaced the impeller and added a Speed Seal impeller cover for quick changes from now on.

And he installed his prototype companionway doors for easier in and out of the cabin. He is crafting the real doors out of Starboard at home now. It was so nice having these doors instead of the three horizontal hatch boards, since it was still chilly in the evenings. Of course, we always find at least one thing wrong every time we go down; after all, Logos is 20 now! This time it was the water heater breaker, which kept popping. Barry discovered that the wire was melting behind it, so we had to stop using it. He'll have to investigate that one further. Our next trip down will be for our first haulout since taking possession of Logos. We are planning to do as much of the work ourselves as possible, including prepping and painting the bottom and polishing/waxing the hull. Hopefully we won't find hundreds of blisters or anything else unexpected that will increase the time or boat bucks required for this endeavor dramatically. We are currently gathering and purchasing supplies, and it's all a bit overwhelming, but we'll probably laugh about it someday. Wish us luck!
