At last, snow!

We haven't had more than an inch of snow in three years here in central NC, so the two inches that fell yesterday in Efland was especially beautiful and very welcome. Today the sun came out, and the contrast of dazzling white snow against brilliant blue skies was a lovely sight. Barry and I took a brisk walk in the woods, well-bundled up against the 20-degree temperature. Here are some photos from around our house and on our walk.

Christmas at the Coast!

We spent Christmas at Ocean Isle Beach with my mother, step-father Dal, and brother Adam. A good time was had by all, and Adam kept us entertained with various tallies, including "Christmases ruined", "Christmases redeemed", "In bathroom crying", and so forth. He always livens up any gathering and keeps us laughing.

Mom and I cooked Christmas dinner together, and we all had quite a delicious feast.
Barry and I left for the marina after Christmas and spent several days onboard Logos doing boat projects, some of which were a comedy of errors. We lost a pair of pliers overboard (my fault), and finally completed a wheel-brake replacement project that took at least 24 hours longer than it should have. There was one highlight, though; we got to wear shorts on an unseasonably warm December day (only one, though). Unfortunately, with our binnacle torn up, we could only watch the other happy people leaving for a sail. Oh well.... Here are a couple more shots from our Christmas at the coast.
