A rather chilly birthday

Last Saturday, April 7th, was my 46th birthday. I've experienced all kinds of weather on my birthday over the years. In a North Carolina April, we never know what we're going to get. We had had 84-degree temperatures several times during March. However, waking up on this birthday morning was a bit more wintery. Here was the view greeting me outside my bedroom window: The skies soon cleared, so we bundled up well and braved the chilly morning. We headed to Umstead Park for a hike on the Loblolly Trail. Once we got a few miles away from home, the dusting of snow was only a memory in the bright morning sunshine. We had a very nice hike of 12 miles, and I hardly felt a day over 45!
